Derek Cornelius

Derek, 25, is a center-back with Malmö FF and was a member of Canada's 2022 FIFA World Cup squad. He has earned a total of 14 caps to date for Canada, after captaining the Canadian U23 national team. In July 2021, Derek joined Greek side, Panetolikos FC, on loan from Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS. Cornelius had an immediate impact at Panetolikos, quickly becoming a central figure for one of the most in-form sides in the Super League. His performances in Greece earned him a transfer to Malmö FF, Sweden's most-winningest club, in December 2022. Before arriving in MLS, Derek began his professional career in Germany and Serbia.
